Summer 2025 Internships
Hartford Funds is hiring interns for summer 2025 at their Wayne, PA office. All interns will follow a hybrid work model (Mon./Fri. remote; Tues./Wed./Thurs. in the office).
Marketing & Public Relations Intern
Overview: This internship will provide the opportunity for a student to collaborate across the Marketing department, with primary responsibilities including supporting the public relations team in areas such as research, content creation, and writing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with media relations tasks such as maintaining earned media coverage list, tracking industry journalists to understand trends, and identifying media pitching opportunities
- Writing media materials such as interview briefings, press releases, media pitches, and more
- Support with interview/meeting scheduling as needed
- Assist with digital marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, email, web, podcast)
- Help develop additional marketing pieces and contribute written content as needed
- Assist with trafficking of digital ad creative
- Provide support to website team (e.g. design and testing of web pages, CMS system maintenance)
- Proof/edit marketing materials
Qualifications:
- Must be a student in good standing currently enrolled in college
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
- Solid understanding of public relations, marketing, and communication techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an understanding of AP Style is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Strong ability to multitask and handle several projects simultaneously
- Willing to take on new projects and lend a hand to the team where needed
Internal Sales & Business Intelligence Intern
Overview: This internship will be duel-focused on both Hartford Funds’ Internal Sales and Business Intelligence teams, playing a vital part in each department’s day-to-day tasks as well as participating in larger projects throughout their time at the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Extensive use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for various projects
- Build focus customer lists, run competitive analysis reports-Morningstar and CRM
- Conduct territory analysis and gather business intelligence
- Create and execute on sales campaigns aligned with firm initiatives
- Execute customer orders and other various marketing requests
- Assist in various capacities including Inside Sales, Sales Support, Business Intelligence, and Investment Consulting Group
- Work with the Business Intelligence (BI) team and internal business partners to provide controls to prevent future occurrences and work with data team to create long-term solutions
- Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience in Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred
- Combine strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to generate simple and impactful output
- Strong ability to multitask and handle several projects simultaneously
- Effective team player, able to work with people of all levels and build strong relationships
- Comfortable with phone conversations and presenting in both large and small groups
- Interest in capital markets/financial planning preferred
Operations Intern
Overview: This role will support the team’s efforts to provide transfer agency and service operations for Hartford Funds and Hartford 529 Plans and support their main points of contact with their service providers and firms. This individual will work closely with the operations team and have contact with various internal departments including compliance, legal, product, finance, fund treasury, marketing, and sales, assisting in the execution of various deliverables, both internal and external. This position will also support project management for these related initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Support the team in implementing initiatives such as new fund launches, name changes, mergers or liquidations; dealer or firm-initiated requests such as firm processing changes or fund adds
- Assist in preparing and coordinating regulatory and non-regulatory shareholder mailings and notifications to financial intermediaries in conjunction with fund changes or corporate actions
- Assist in management of the Dealer Support mailbox, communicating with back offices, internal stakeholders, and transfer agents
- Perform dealer agreement maintenance. All dealer agreements are reviewed and administered through the team and require the ability to understand various agreements, terms, and fee arrangements
- Prepare monthly or ad hoc reporting by request
Qualifications:
- Coursework working toward bachelor’s degree in business or economics or related major
- Mutual Fund, 529, ETF or Tender Fund product/industry knowledge a plus
- Ability to work in a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to quickly learn product lines, procedures, and workflows
- Ability to work within a team or independently; thinks critically by gathering and investigating relevant information

Investment Intern (RFPs and Product Communication)
Overview: This internship is within the group responsible for the development, management, and promotion of the entire investment product lineup of Hartford Funds. The position will provide exposure to content development for new and existing investment products, including requests for proposal (RFPs) and various marketing materials.
Responsibilities:
- Update product content (including sample proposals, fund summaries, pitchbooks) in a timely fashion to reflect changes to a product’s team, philosophy, and process
- Participate in department meetings around RFP responses and content development
- Participate in product development and product enhancement projects as they pertain to RFP team deliverables
- Assist in creating materials for product training sessions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in college as a Business/Finance/Economics major; Marketing or Communications major considered if there is also familiarity with financial markets
- Excellent writing and editing skills required
- Familiarity with mutual funds and exchange-traded funds preferred
- Interest in financial markets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required
- Experience in Microsoft Outlook and Excel preferred

Investment Intern (Data and Product)
Overview: This internship is within the group responsible for the development, management, and promotion of the investment product lineup of Hartford Funds. The position will provide exposure to performance measurement and assessment, asset allocation, product lifecycle, and competitive positioning disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Perform data analysis using industry aggregator tools such as Morningstar and Lipper to create reports and visualizations to facilitate research and analysis of performance, portfolio characteristics, and peers
- Assist in the development of business operational improvements through a keen understanding of quality control and quality assurance
- Use understanding of product measures and technical insights to work with team on further developing our Data Warehouse with additional data feeds and improvements through Snowflake
- Leverage Snowflake to develop strategies for business solutions
- Work with team on further development of SharePoint site which serves as a reference library and content catalog for internal end-users
- Participate in and observe department meetings around due diligence, research topics and data analytics
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Preferably enrolled in college as a Business/Finance/Economics/Math major or Computer/Data Science
- Proficiency in Excel required; ability to acquire skills prior to start of internship may be considered
- Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and work independently with minimal direction and supervision
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and ability to think both from a business and technology standpoint; attention to detail is a must
- Experience with SQL-based databases (Snowflake is a plus)

Investment Consulting Group Intern
Overview: This internship sits within ICG, working closely with business development teams to drive asset gathering and client service efforts. The student will play a key role in collaborating with Investment, Sales, Compliance, and Marketing professionals by utilizing various tools to assist in the research and delivery of content across the entire product lineup of Hartford Funds. The position will provide exposure to performance measurement and assessment, asset allocation, product lifecycle, and competitive positioning disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize FactSet and Morningstar to develop reports to help investment professionals and sales best position Hartford Funds products, including analyzing performance, portfolio characteristics, peers, and competitors
- Participate in department meetings around due diligence, research topics, and data analytics
- Work with team on further development of HEART (Hartford Enhanced Analytics and Risk Tool) which serves as the primary resource for distribution to engage with financial professionals around portfolio construction best practices
- Partner with Compliance, Marketing, and Sales on various distribution initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
