Hartford Funds is looking to hire candidates for two full-time positions at their Wayne, PA location.
Investment Research Analyst
Overview of Position: The Investment Advisory Group (IAG) is responsible for the day-to-day portfolio oversight, manager evaluation, selection, and ongoing due diligence in support of Hartford Funds, with approximately $130B in assets. IAG is seeking an Investment Research Analyst to assume direct ownership and responsibility for a group of funds within an asset class across Hartford Funds’ mutual fund and ETF complex. This role will provide the opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to expand their knowledge base and learn new skills while partnering with and being mentored by more experienced members of the team. The incumbent will work with members of the investment research team to perform the day-to-day oversight process on funds and provide investment support to a variety of internal clients.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Act as a subject matter expert for a subset of mutual funds/ETFs, responsible for day-to-day oversight of investment strategies and providing investment support to Sales, Marketing, Product, and other internal clients
- Conduct due diligence and communicate findings with respect to investment performance and risk, outlook, and strategy to senior management and the Board of Directors
- Understand and analyze key trends within the asset class and positioning of competitors
- Conduct thorough portfolio analysis using Morningstar, Bloomberg, Factset, and other tools
- Assist with enhancements of investment tools and processes to monitor markets, fund performance, investment risks, and competitors
- Collaborate with the broader organization on product positioning, product development, regulatory disclosures, marketing content, and investment insights
Qualifications
- BA/BS required; concentration in finance, economics, or quantitative discipline very strongly preferred
- Strong interest in investing and an excellent grasp of financial markets along with desire to pursue continued education such as CFA, MBA, CIMA, preferred
- Knowledge of investment tools for performance analysis and portfolio analytics (i.e. FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar, Barra) a plus
- Strong data analytics, quantitative/technical skills—Excel and Factset preferred
- Prior experience involving financial analysis, accounting, security analysis, trading, product management, or fund evaluation/oversight viewed favorably
- Strong analytical, organizational, relationship building, writing, and presentation skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, and in a team environment

Product Management Analyst, Product Management Team
Overview of Position: Reporting to the Product Management Team at Hartford Funds, the incumbent in this role will represent the product team through all facets of product management and product development for asset management products (mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, etc.). This highly visible and dynamic role relies on excellent communication and project management skills to effectively execute on all product initiatives.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Develop and communicate a strategic implementation plan for mutual fund and ETF initiatives
- Lead the project management function of product initiatives including launching new products, implementing product enhancements, and required regulatory initiatives
- Manage the achievement of project deliverables and ensure projects are completed on time
- Assist with the coordination of Hartford’s annual 15c response
- Develop and execute communication strategies and training related to product initiatives, including timelines and requirements for regulatory filings, internal and external communications
- Participate in product development process through industry research and data analysis
- Assist with the annual prospectus process from a product standpoint, ensure compliance standards are maintained for the business, and understand and review regulatory documents
- Assist with the preparation of Board materials relating to product initiatives
- Participate in product development process through industry research and data analysis
- Key responsibilities: internal customer relations management, negotiations, timeline management, and planning and communications
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of industry experience; product management experience preferred
- A bachelor’s degree preferably in business with superior academic performance
- FINRA Series 7 license preferred, but may be obtained upon employment
- Solutions oriented and able to work effectively across multiple lines of the business
- Excellent organizational, planning, documentation, and problem-solving skills while taking ownership and accountability
- Strong project management skills and drive-for-results mentality, with the ability to multi-task and make decisions in a business context
- Working knowledge of different asset classes and investment styles
- Familiarity with investment vehicles beyond mutual funds and ETFs a plus
- Consistent demonstration of clear verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates flexibility and good judgment in dealing with multiple tasks and changing priorities; excellent and effective time management skills
- A positive team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
- A strong sense of self-initiative and desire to succeed
- Natural ability to build relationships with other departments including Legal, Marketing, Sales and Distribution, Compliance, Finance, and other areas that support the business to lead business initiatives
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Morningstar Direct and Excel-based data manipulation a plus
