NFP is looking to hire summer 2022 interns for Business Development and IT Project Management. All internships are in person and paid.

Business Development Intern

Locations: San Diego, CA; Pleasant Hill, CA; Santa Ana, CA; Simi Valley, CA; Lehi, UT; Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO

Internship Description

NFP is seeking bright and energetic individuals to become integral parts of their team, and assist their producers with business development activities. NFP’s 10-week Summer Intern Program is designed to provide students a challenging, meaningful, and supportive experience. The Summer Intern orientation offers a thorough overview of the company and the opportunity to learn from several senior leaders. The Summer Intern Program also includes challenges, mentoring, and philanthropic and networking opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate, qualify, and develop new business opportunities through inbound and outbound marketing activities
  • Assist business executives with registering for NFP-sponsored conferences, events, and webinars
  • Through research, identify prospects and build prospecting lists
  • Manage and organize event and project deliverables
  • Coordinate introductory meetings and assist with discovery appointments
  • Meet key metrics including making a certain number of phone calls per week and per month
  • Answer and refer phone and email inquiries
  • May assist team in scheduling meetings
  • Attend seminars and classes related to the department
  • Participate in training regarding carrier products and systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to complete tasks
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products and/or other computer software systems
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude, proactive mindset, and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask
  • Ability to communicate and interface effectively with CEOs, CFOs, Executive Staff, and Human Resources professionals
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal communications
  • Strong typing skills
  • Experience using a CRM system (preferred)
  • Be willing to work up to 40 hours per week

Education and/or Experience

  • Pursuing BA/BS degree currently with a graduation date before June 2023
  • 0-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Interest in insurance industry

IT Project Management Intern

Location: Austin, Texas

Internship Description 

The Program Management Office at NFP is seeking interns to support their lead project managers in executing and delivering high-level initiatives. As an intern, you will work within the Project Management Office to assist Clients, Vendors, and C-level stakeholders in developing a project and program implementation plan. This internship is for someone who wants to impact a large corporation significantly. NFP’s 10-week Summer Intern Program is designed to provide students a challenging, meaningful and supportive experience. The Summer Intern orientation offers a thorough overview of the company and the opportunity to learn from several senior leaders. The Summer Intern Program also includes challenges, mentoring, and philanthropic and networking opportunities. As a Project Management intern, you will gain exposure to how to initiate plans, set budgets, track project activities, and communicate achievements to business partners, work with mid to large-sized projects, and recommend techniques and practices that ensure business goals.

Project Duties

  • Understand business initiatives, strategic plans, and platform architecture to influence project execution
  • Evaluate how system changes will affect workflows, data, and reporting
  • Work with the implementation partners, business, and IT to optimize, enhance, and unify the Service Now and Salesforce platforms
  • Manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment

Essential Responsibilities

  • Willingness to learn and understand Agile framework
  • Establish and maintain relationships with NFP teams, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Provide detailed documentation surrounding requirements, and work with the development team and QA team
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and communicate business needs with technical details to developers and architects
  • Perform quality assurance testing and verify that improvements satisfy business requirements
  • Analyze and map business processes used to identify process gaps
  • Assist in formalizing action plans and workflows to achieve specific business goals and improve overall processes
  • Create user stories, acceptance criteria, and test case design

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and meticulous with effective time management
  • Should have methodical and creative thought processes, with the ability to quickly adapt
  • Proactive in learning new toolsets to further improve process and reporting
  • Making process diagrams and workflows in MS Visio
