OVERVIEW OF ADVISOR SUPPORT CONSULTANT ROLE

Hartford Funds has several openings for entry level Advisor Support Consultants in its Wayne, PA location. This position will give selected individuals the exciting opportunity to learn the Mutual Fund and ETF businesses and obtain securities licenses. Advisor Support Consultants will work with financial advisors, advisor consultants, and internal sales professionals to further their knowledge of the financial services industry.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

  • Respond to phone calls from financial advisors promptly and professionally, following established criteria
  • Explain in detail the features, benefits, and advantages of Hartford Funds’ products and funds
  • Provide personalized, web-based hypothetical illustrations
  • Place supply orders for marketing material
  • Follow up with representatives with answers to questions or to make sure information was received and understood
  • Log phone calls into computer system for tracking purposes
  • Act as a liaison between home office and wholesalers in the field
  • Assist in the training and development process of new employees
  • Once licensed, make outbound phone calls to financial advisors regarding commission specials, new products, marketing ideas, special meetings, etc.

OVERVIEW OF STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE

Hartford Funds is currently looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to join its accounting team at its Wayne, PA location. This individual will play a key role in the month end close process as well as contribute to the daily activities of the accounting department.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

  • Assist in the month end close process, prepare and post journal entries, and calculate accruals
  • Create, maintain, and present financial and operational results to various levels of management.
  • Preform variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts, research, and correct discrepancies as necessary
  • Develop relationships with multiple customers and business partners to both convey and obtain information relating to the business
  • Provide support for the annual audit of financial statements working closely with external auditors
  • Perform ad-hoc research and financial analysis for management
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions

WHAT IS HARTFORD FUNDS LOOKING FOR?

  • 2021 or 2022 college graduate
  • Four-year degree in accounting strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Strong entity accounting knowledge (general ledger, balance sheet, income statement components)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to articulate financial results to all levels of management in a professional manner is required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required (V-lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.), as well as the ability to obtain new software knowledge as required for the position
  • Results oriented, accountable, motivated, and flexible
  • Basic understanding of Mutual Funds (preferred)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven, and multi-tasking environment
  • Previous working knowledge with an ERP system
  • Capable of operating individually and within a team environment
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo
