NASA has awarded a contract to Boeing and SpaceX to create space taxis. The object of the taxies is to bring astronauts to and from the International Space Station. This will mitigate the dependency on the US to borrow rides from vehicles from other countries. Boeing’s contract is worth $4.2 billion while SpaceX’s contract is valued at $2.6 billion. These contracts are imperative to reaching NASA’s goal of manned spaceflights by 2014.
