IBM is about to embark on a new adventure: it’s about to join forces with tech giant Apple. While IBM and Apple had to battle it out just ten years ago for the personal computer market, it seems that the two conglomerates are joining forces in an effort to create new mobile technology for consumers. IBM and Apple will be collaborating to create business applications for Apple devices, and IBM will also sell Apple products to corporate customers. The collaboration is part of Apple’s effort to reach out to the corporate customer base. “In ’84, (IBM and Apple) were competitors. In 2014, I don’t think you can find two more complementary companies,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. “This is a really landmark deal.” Both Apple and IBM’s stocks rose in the hours after the announcement of the collaboration.
