Get ready for your closeup, smartphone cameras are getting turned up a notch. This past Wednesday Taiwanese company, HTC, unveiled their newest technology: the RE Camera. Inspired by the ultra popular GoPro, the RE Camera is L shaped and looks like an inhaler. The RE Camera hooks up to an iPhone and with an app the RE Camera is turned into a viewfinder and it becomes possible to shoot time-lapse and slow motion videos which are recorded on the phone. Though HTC is traditionally a smartphone company, its move to switch to cameras isn’t completely unprecedented. As iPhone technology has improved, cameras are less in-demand, they just can’t keep up with editing and social networking the way cameras on iPhones can. The RE can be used up to 1 meter underwater, has a line of different colors and mounts and will be available at the end of the year for a cost of $199.
