From iMessage to Snapchat and everything in between, there are countless available platforms for instant messaging, with almost every social media network including a feature for this immediate communication. Now, Yahoo’s Livetext Me will join the existing rankings of messenger apps. The new app allows users to share live video with friends while typing a message–but without sound. Yahoo’s Adam Cahan claims that the app is a brilliant new way to communicate that “[blends] the simplicity of texting with the emotion and immediacy of live video.” By doing away with audio, Livetext Me allows users to communicate over video even when they are not in a space that supports audible communication, such as a library or a crowded concert. Among all of our modern messaging mania, Yahoo has managed to innovate a new concept for a messenger.
