Are you applying for a job? Trying to get an internship? Have your parents figured out how to use the internet? Time to clean up your Facebook. Facebook will be doing a bit of spring cleaning itself as a Turkish court has just ordered the online giant to block a number of pages it has deemed to be insulting to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. The order made by the court on Sunday followed a request by a prosecutor, state broadcaster TRT reported. Facebook has yet to make a statement about the matter, but it does have implications for the future of media in Turkey where the government of President Tayyip Erdogan is often seen as pursuing an Islamist-leaning agenda. Following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris, Turkish prosecutors opened an investigation on a newspaper which reprinted parts of the French satirical magazine.
