Facebook has added almost two trillion public posts on their site as searchable posts. This comes as an attempt for Facebook to keep people on their site rather than going to other sites to search for news and information. The new posts added have made many older posts become available for searching. The website also added an option, however, that would allow people to choose not to make their old posts as widely searchable. Facebook’s head of search, Tom Stocky, said that people already go to Facebook to find out how their friends and family react to events and that there are about 1.5 billion searchers are carried out each day on Facebook. “Search results are organised to help you cut through the noise and quickly understand what the world is saying about a topic in the moment,” said Stocky.
