Kate Brown has been sworn in as Governor of Oregon becoming the sixth female governor of the state. She replaces Democrat Governor John Kitzhaber, who announced his resignation in his fourth term last week. The once popular governor resigned after criminal investigations were brought upon him. His departure from this position resulted in Brown’s rise. Brown, who is also a Democrat, was Secretary of State and therefore succeeded him under Oregon’s Constitution. She looks to reform government so that residents of the state will be more trusting of political authority.
