Alison Grimes, a Democratic candidate currently running to oust Republican senator Mitch McConnell from his seat, featured a new face in her latest campaign ad: her grandfather’s…stroke. In the ad, Grimes speaks about her support for Obamacare while her widowed grandmother recounts the day that her husband suffered the stroke that took his life. “My husband was a strong person, but the stroke just took everything away,” says Grimes’ grandmother, Elise Case, in the ad. Grimes has attacked McConnell for his support of Medicare before, stating that it cost a coal miner a $6,000 increase in medical bills. The ad cost six figures, is 60 seconds long and will be aired throughout Kentucky.
