Politics: Immigration

Last year, the Senate passed a bill that would have made it easier for the 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally to gain citizenship, but the House of Representatives made the progress of the bill halt. Since then, people who are in favor of this bill have been waiting for Obama to take executive action to make this bill pass. However, the action they expected to occur this summer still has not happened, and immigration advocates are getting impatient and angry. Earlier Obama said he would act by the end of summer, but recently said he would wait for the November congressional elections to pass before he decides what plan of action to take. According to Obama, “I want to spend some time, even as we’re getting all our ducks in a row for the executive action, I also want to make sure that the public understands why we’re doing this, why it’s the right thing for the American people, why it’s the right thing for the American economy…”
