Joyce is the CEO of Macaroni Kid, the largest source of family events and activities in the Country with more than 500 weekly publications serving more than 6,00 communities in 47 states. The businesses success is driven by the 500 “Mompreneurs” who publish Macaroni Kid in their hometowns. Joyce has guided housewives, school teachers, and even MBA’s to success with their own local Macaroni Kid editions. It all began with her own need as mom to find local events and activities for her own children. A few months after starting Macaroni Kid in her hometown of Southampton NY, she gave up her law practice and blazed a trail now followed by hundreds of other moms.
Joyce shares how moms need to think about “taking care of mama bear” and avoid the “martyr mom syndrome.” Her experience in business and leading mompreneurs makes her a coveted speaker at leading mom conferences around the country.
She received her Bachelors in Business Management from the University of Maryland and her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from St. John’s University School of Law. After law school, Joyce spent more than a dozen years as a New York City lawyer where her practice focused on complex commercial litigation.
A self-confessed idea junkie, in 1998, Joyce abandoned law firm life to liberate her entrepreneurial spirit. Since then, she has co-founded, nurtured, and sold an alternative media company and a consumer products company, coauthored a monthly marketing column, and taught writing on the postgraduate level as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cardozo University School of Law. The visionary behind Macaroni Kid’s culture and long-term growth plans, Joyce brings her unparalleled energy and determination to the Macaroni Kid community.
