Foster Farms just recalled dozens of chicken products because of a new salmonella outbreak. The outbreak has already affected over 500 people in the last 16 months in just the United States. Foster Farms, which is based in California, issued the recall after the Department of Agriculture linked salmonella to chicken exposure. The affected chicken was sold at Kroger and Safeway, and while the products are now removed from store shelves, the USDA encourages households to check freezers for affected chicken. This isn’t the first time the U.S. has dealt with a salmonella outbreak; hopefully, we can learn from this situation and attempt to make this the last outbreak we experience.
