People with Type 1 diabetes need to repeatedly check their blood sugar levels to make sure that they are in the right zone. However, a new type of insulin could change the way this disease is managed. A chemically modified version of regular, long-acting insulin, this insulin has an extra set of molecules stuck on the end that binds it to proteins that circulate in the bloodstream. Dr. Danny Chou from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology believes this could revolutionize the way diabetes is managed.
