Business: Staples Buys Office Depot

Staples is buying its once major competitor Office Depot for nearly $6 billion. Together the companies would encompass more than 4,000 stores and more than $35 billion in revenue. Previously there were three major office supply retailers in the United States, but now there is just one. Office Depot bought Office Max in 2013 and now Staples has bought Office Depot. Antitrust regulators are worried about this merger would shrink office supply stores to one chain. The companies say that face competition with other retailers, including Target, Walmart, Kmart, and Amazon.

What do you think of this merger?
