BMW, the German luxury automobile maker, is expanding into Mexico. The United States has been notorious in recent years for losing manufacturing plants and jobs, but Mexico is quickly catching up when it comes to automobile manufacturing. BMW will be building its first assembly plant, and it will put about one billion dollars into the new plant. Many car companies, including Nissan, Volkswagen, and Hyundai, are also investing in manufacturing in Mexico. The cars being produced in both Mexico and Canada are sold to Americans; the new investments in the industry are helpful to the Mexican government and economy. While only time will tell if America is ready to step away from the manufacturing industry, it is clear that Mexico is stepping into the game.
