Sheryl Sandberg

Famed as: Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Facebook and co-author of “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead”

About: Sheryl Sandberg was born in Washington D.C and moved to North Miami Beach when she was 2 years old. Sandberg attended Harvard University and co-founded an organization called Women in Economics and Government. She graduated summa Sheryl Sandbergcum laude in 1991 with a BA in Economics. After receiving her MBA at Harvard Business School in 1993, she worked at McKinsey & Company and Google before being recruited by Mark Zuckerburg to join Facebook in 2007. Sandberg managed the marketing and business development as the COO and helped Facebook become profitable. Sandberg co-wrote “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead,” with journalist Nell Scovell, which discussed gender inequality at work, obstacles women face when desiring leadership positions, and empowering advice for women in the workplace.
