“I’m running for president.” Four words, seven syllables, a long time coming. With this announcement, Hillary Clinton has entered the ring as a democratic candidate for the 2016 Presidential election. The announcement came through a video released through Clinton’s Twitter and features men, women, and children discussing their ideas for the future. “Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion so you can do more than just get by. You can get ahead and stay ahead. Because when families are strong, America is strong,” said Clinton. Clinton was President Obama’s Secretary of State during his first term in office. She ran for election in 2008 but suspended her own election, urging voters to support President Obama instead. Polls have shown that Clinton is starting her run with a strong lead against her prospective Democratic party opponents.
