Education: Student Employment

Millennials still make up 40% of the unemployed in America; two million of the 4.6 million unemployed millenials are long-term unemployed (in that they are not solely unemployed while transitioning between jobs or searching for better offers.) The reputation of the employment rate for students who graduated during the recession was grim for quite some time, but recent studies by the National Center for Education Statistics show that around 83% of workers who graduated during the recession are working. The rate is significantly higher for students who graduated with STEM degrees (85.1%) and significantly lower for students who graduated with degrees in social sciences (78.2%).
